Africa Foundation are fundraising to renovate and construct a new classroom at both the primary and secondary sections of the school. In total there are 14 classroom renovations as well as the construction of 1 new classroom and the renovation of a exam room, construction and renovations will be done in phases. We are actively fundraising for phase 1, which consists of the renovation of x3 classrooms.
The enrolment numbers at Matemwe are very high, this leads to classroom overcrowding, as a result the school facilities are overused leading to rapid depreciation. A dilapidated and neglected environment can increase stress levels and therefore impact negatively on concentration and retention in both the learning and teaching environment, learning in an environment where the roof looks like it can come down on the class at any time could cause an unease and anxious learning environment.
