Rebeiro Nkuna from KwaNibela, South Africa, aspires to be a Mechanical Engineer
Meet Rebeiro, the CLEF beneficiary, currently studying Mechanical Engineering at Central University of Technology.
Nibela is a rural community in KwaZulu Natal. It is largely surrounded by conservation areas. Poverty is rife in the community and most parents are unable to pay school fees for their children. Tertiary level education is beyond reach, meaning that many students who complete Secondary School remain at home with nothing to do. For Robeiro this is different, he is currently doing his first year in Mechanical Engineering at Central University of Technology. Being from Nibela, his exposure to the engineering industry was limited, but from a young age he became fascinated with automobiles and tools. He remembers spending a lot of his spare time breaking and fixing things, just to create the opportunity to use the tools at home. As Rebeiro grew, so did his passion and when the opportunity for a bursary that would enable him to attend university, he chose engineering.
His biggest dream is to design a car that uses environmentally friendly source of energy to run.
