Mdudla Primary School was established in 1959 and today, the school has an enrolment of 561 learners, 20 educators, 2 non-teaching personnel (an Administration Clerk and a Security Guard), as well as 4 Food Handlers. The school has a total of 12 classrooms, an administration block, 8 pit toilets (3 for girls, 3 for boys and 2 for staff members).
The 12 classrooms and an enrolment of 561 pupils yields an average of 47 learners per classroom, the classrooms are overcrowded compared to the Department of Education’s recommendation of 30 learners per class. Because of the overcrowding, the classrooms are badly depreciated. Africa Foundation are actively fundraising to build a double classroom block, this will bring the average class down to 40 leaners per classroom. Africa Foundation started working with Mdudla Primary School in 1999. With the help of funds from donors, Africa Foundation have successfully built two classrooms, an administration building and a borehole with water connection in the past. This year 2022, Africa Foundation in partnership with Lennox Mathebula (athlete, for Xidulu organization) and Spar donated school shoes to children from Mdudla Primary School.
